Topics are managed from the Topic Table, which can be found at Voting >Option Topics
You can create a topic by either:
- Quick Create: create a blank entry in the Topic Table, which can be directly edited through the Topic Table. If you create a topic this way, remember to "Save" the Topic Table.
- Create: open a blank topic page, which provides access to all the configuration settings for the option.
In this Panel there will be settings both for regular Topics and Topic Sliders. If you wish to create a regular Topic please access the Topic Settings folder:
- Title: The title will appear where ever the topic is referenced. It should be short; it is a headline rather than a summary. 3-8 words.
- Identifier: This code is used to reference the criteria for system purposes. By default, it is simply the title without a space.
- Description: This is a fully editable block of HTML code. It should be viewable. This will be used as the default panel for the topic page created for this topic.
- Default Weighting: This is the weight the topic will have if the participant does not set it to some other value.
-
Display Order: If you would like the Topics to be displayed in a particular order, then enter a number value in the "Display Order" column. Input the lowest number for the Topic you would like to be displayed first and increasingly higher values for Topics you would like to sequentially display next.
- Other settings:
- (XOR Constraint): This should be selected if you prefer to have only one option that is associated with a particular Topic, to be included in the final results.
- Delete: This should be selected if the option is to be deleted. Note that "publish" must be triggered for the deletion to take affect.
There are also settings relevant to topics found in settings for specific Voting Pages; navigate to Pages to find them.
Weighting Topics
When there are multiple topics, the topics must carry relative weights so that they can be combined into a single metric.
The default weight for each topic is 50. The default weight can be modified in two ways. Go to:
Voting >Voting Criteria
You can:
- edit it directly on Topic Table using weight column
- edit it on the Topic edit page, accessed from the Topic Table
