Engine Settings: Results Mode

Fine-tuning the Ethelo Engine to deliver precisely the results you need is at your fingertips through the Engine Settings. Let's explore these settings, with a particular focus on the Scenario Mode, a powerful tool for fair collective decision-making.

Key Controls in Engine Settings

Within the Engine Settings, you'll find pivotal controls that shape the way the Ethelo Engine operates. Let's delve into one of the most crucial settings:

Results Mode: This setting offers you a choice between two fundamental modes for the Ethelo Engine:

1. All Options Mode: In this mode, the Engine provides comprehensive statistics on each individual option, without invoking Constraints or Scenario tools. It presents an unbiased evaluation of each choice, free from preconfigured rules.

2. Scenario Mode: The Scenario Mode is where the Ethelo magic truly unfolds. In this mode, the Engine brings the Constraints into play, evaluating and ranking Scenarios instead of individual options. Here's how it works:

  • Constraint Application: The Engine assesses each Scenario against the pre-defined rules and constraints, filtering out combinations of options that fail to meet these criteria. This initial step ensures that only viable Scenarios move forward for further evaluation.
  • Participant Insights: After applying Constraints, the Engine incorporates participant votes and feedback into the equation. It analyzes the preferences and priorities of the stakeholders, considering their collective wisdom.
  • Fair Collective Decision-Making: The Scenario Mode embodies the Ethelo theory of fair collective decision-making. It harmonizes individual desires, constraints, and participant influence, striving to identify scenarios that strike a balance between personal satisfaction and broader fairness.

By opting for the Scenario Mode, you're choosing a path that prioritizes not just the preferences of individuals but the broad support of the collective It empowers you to make choices that reflect the collective voice while adhering to the defined constraints. To embark on this journey of collective wisdom and fairness, venture into the Engine Settings, and set the mode to Scenario. Your decision-making process will be enriched with insights that encompass the essence of Ethelo's principles.

Note that Scenario Mode and Scenario Constraints go hand in hand; without constraining rules, we don't have a way to select a subset of Options (i.e., a Scenario) and therefore we cannot deploy the engine capabilities of Scenario Mode.
